). It introduces us to 16 year old Katniss Everdeen who lives in a post-apocalyptic world in the country of Panern (formerly North America). The are chosen by a powerful government to compete in an annual televised even where a boy and girl are choosen to fight to the death. The Hunger Games exist to demonstrate not even children are beyond the reach of the Capitol's power.Before casting news hit this week I hadn’t heard of these books. They’re marketed as young adult and I’m…well let’s just say NOT a young adult anymore, so that may be why I’ve missed them. They sound interesting enough that I’ll pick them up prior to the release of the film.
